How To Start Fresh After a Bad Time - Tea & Curls
“Sometimes life requires more of you than you have to give & demands you plunge into the reinvention of yourself if you truly wanna live.” ― Curtis Tyrone Jones

There are times in life when things get out of control. We all have had those moments. Everything is going fine and then you shut your eyes for a second and when you open them again the world is upside down. A couple of months ago I wasn’t in a good place, I felt that I had no control over my life and everything of bad seemed to be happening at the same time. I became very insecure and fragile to the point where I could literally be laughing at one second and crying at the next.

For a few weeks that was my life. I didn’t want to leave the house, I didn’t want to talk to anyone and I was just hoping that if I ignored my life, the problems would just go away. You know what? They didn’t and I had to get out of that hole. I had to motivate myself again and be ready to kick life in the ass. In order to do that, I knew I needed a fresh start so I followed some simple steps.

Reflecting
Bad things don’t necessarily happen because of something we’ve done. Sometimes, bad things just happen and it’s important to reflect on what happened, how that affected you and why happened. If happened because of something you’ve done, accept that and stop blaming yourself. If didn’t happen because of something you’ve done, accept that and don’t blame yourself either.

Next time
After reflecting on what happened and moving on from any guilt that might have been on your mind, it’s time to think about what you would do differently if you’d find yourself in that position again. The most important thing in life is that we learn from everything we go through – happy times and sad times.

Fun activities
Switching off the negative mindset is important and there’s nothing better than having a good time to do that. Visit a thematic park, go to the beach, go on a road trip or simply have lunch with someone who makes you feel happy and makes you laugh. Push yourself forward and if needed that a step out of your comfort zone.

Goals
To motivate yourself after those bad times you don’t want to remember again set yourself smart goals (read How To Set Smart Goals in Life by Martha Jane Edwards) and work your way up. It is important to keep positive thoughts flowing through your mind so make sure you set achievable goals that suit your lifestyle.

Surroundings
It is important to take a step back and understand who is good for you and who isn’t. the way we feel is often influenced by the people we surround ourselves with. This means that positive and happy people will have a positive influence on you. Step away from those who can only bitch about other people and surround yourself with people that will support you no matter what. People that make you laugh every day.
